Job Description

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Building & Land Engineering team in Poughkeepsie, NY. This internship offers hands-on experience in civil site design and development, providing a meaningful opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects. From the start, you will support active design work and collaborate with experienced engineers and surveyors on tasks that directly impact our clients and communities.

This position is ideal for students who are looking to strengthen their design skills and gain exposure to a fast-paced consulting environment.

This is a paid internship.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in civil engineering design tasks such as site layout, grading, drainage, and utility planning

  • Support preparation of plans, drawings, and permit applications

  • Use AutoCAD, HydroCAD, and other software to support engineering design and analysis

  • Conduct site visits and field investigations under the supervision of a licensed engineer

  • Collaborate with survey crews to collect and document field data

  • Contribute to construction oversight and reporting tasks

  • Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned

Who You Are

  • Willing to learn new tools, adapt quickly, and take initiative

  • Interested in civil site design, land development, and infrastructure projects

What You Bring

  • Junior, senior, or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, HydroCAD, MicroStation, or similar design software

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Prior internship or relevant experience is a plus
