Job Description

Trueline is seeking a Civil Project Manager for a growing heavy civil construction firm based in the North Carolina, to support its expanding public works division. This role will lead civil infrastructure and sitework projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within scope. It is an opportunity to step into a highly visible leadership role within a disciplined, team-first organization experiencing steady growth.

Must-Haves as the Civil Project Manager:

  • 5+ years of experience managing civil or heavy sitework construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of wet utilities, earthwork, and civil infrastructure
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, and subcontractors
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Highly organized with disciplined documentation practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

What You'll Do as the Civil Project Manager:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute civil construction projects from kickoff through completion
  • Define project scope, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
  • Manage wet utilities, grading, earthwork, and infrastructure scopes
  • Oversee subcontractors and self-perform crews to ensure quality and productivity
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, safety, and adherence to specifications
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure alignment with project goals
  • Track project costs, prepare forecasts, and maintain financial accountability
  • Lead client communication and provide regular project updates
  • Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies
  • Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies
  • Support change order negotiations and resolve field issues proactively

Nice-to-Haves as the Civil Project Manager:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Engineering background or experience working closely with engineers in the field
  • Experience with public works or municipal contracts
  • Familiarity with Procore or similar project management software
  • PMP or similar certification
  • Experience with permitting and agency coordination
