Position Summary:

As an Engineering Team Lead at Alpine, you will lead a team of structural engineers and designers who support truss manufacturers and builders across North America. This role offers the opportunity to blend technical expertise, people leadership, customer engagement, and product influence.

You will set direction for your team, coordinate and prioritize incoming work, and ensure customer expectations are exceeded through accurate, timely, high‑quality engineering. You'll mentor and develop engineers, elevate standards of execution, and collaborate directly with Alpine's software development group to improve the tools used by truss professionals every day.

This is a role for someone who wants to lead, innovate, coach, and solve real engineering challenges with real‑world impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead & Develop a High‑Performing Engineering Team

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers and designers, cultivating technical expertise, ownership, and continuous learning.

  • Forecast and distribute workload to meet customer turnaround commitments while maintaining exceptional quality.

  • Conduct performance assessments, identify training needs, and create growth opportunities for team members.

Deliver Technical Excellence

  • Design and review complex truss component designs, repair details, and engineering drawings.

  • Re‑evaluate components holistically to provide safe, economical, and practical solutions.

  • Support customers with design questions, special load cases, and guidance on efficient component layouts.

Customer & Field Support

  • Provide technical consultation to customers and internal teams, offering design improvements and real‑world solutions.

  • Conduct site visits to evaluate structural concerns, analyze truss failures, and develop accurate repair strategies.

  • Partner with sales and technical teams to communicate findings and maintain clear professional relationships with customers.

Champion Standards, Training & Process Improvements

  • Train engineers and designers to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with Alpine's engineering principles.

  • Represent the engineering group in technical presentations, seminars, and cross‑functional meetings.

  • Provide engineering input to Alpine's software development team to improve modeling, design workflows, and user experience.

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field emphasizing statics and material mechanics.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience; Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification required.

  • Preferred but not required: experience with truss engineering, component design, or drafting for building components.

  • Working knowledge of TPI, NDS, ASCE‑7, and other applicable codes and design standards a plus.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with design software tools.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Work Environment:

Primarily office‑based with occasional visits to manufacturing areas or jobsites (PPE provided). Reasonable accommodations are available to support individuals with disabilities.
