Class A Fitter / Welder
Location: Tulsa, OKPay:
$29-34/hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PMOvertime: Friday and Saturday, 6:00 AM–2:15 PM, as needed
HireCall is seeking an experienced Class A Fitter/Welder for a manufacturing opportunity in Tulsa, OK. This position involves the fabrication, fitting, and welding of industrial pressure vessels and waste heat recovery equipment built to ASME Code standards.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in pressure vessel fabrication, strong blueprint reading skills, and proficiency in TIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding. Candidates must be capable of independently laying out, fitting, and welding complex assemblies while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding procedure specifications.
Layout, cut, fit, tack, and weld pressure and non-pressure components.
Fabricate cylinders, nozzles, tubes, tubesheets, headers, and structural components.
Perform TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), and Flux Core (FCAW) welding.
Weld in all positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
Utilize leveling equipment to ensure proper alignment and orientation of components.
Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome, and nickel alloys.
Operate carbon arc gouging equipment and cutting torches.
Ensure all welding and fabrication meet ASME Code, company, and customer requirements.
Produce welds capable of passing X-ray inspection and other non-destructive testing methods.
Assist with additional shop and fabrication duties as needed.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Class A Fitter/Welder in pressure vessel, boiler, or heavy industrial fabrication.
Strong proficiency in TIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding.
Ability to independently read blueprints and interpret welding procedure specifications.
Experience fitting and welding pressure and non-pressure components.
Ability to perform basic and advanced math calculations.
Proficiency with measuring, leveling, cutting, and fabrication equipment.
Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome, and nickel alloys.
Ability to produce welds that meet ASME Code requirements.
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) experience is a plus but not required.
Required Welding & Fitting Tests
Candidates must successfully complete the following skills assessments:
6G Pipe Welding Test: 6-inch Schedule 80 pipe using GTAW for the stringer/root and hot pass, followed by SMAW fill and cap.
3G Plate Welding Test: FCAW on 1/2-inch plate.
Fitter Test: Demonstrate fitting, layout, and fabrication skills.
