Job Description

Job Position: Class B Plate Fitter

Location: Claremore, OK 74017

Pay Rate: $25.00/hr

Shift: 6: 00am

Job # 126041

Standby Personnel is seeking experienced Plate Fitters, The Plate Fitter is responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel and plate components according to blueprints and specifications. The ideal candidate has strong blueprint-reading skills, fabrication experience, and the ability to safely use shop tools and equipment to ensure accurate fit-up before welding.

Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.Measure, mark, and lay out steel plate and structural components.Fit and align parts for welding using clamps, fixtures, and measuring tools.Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders, torches, drills, and cutting tools.Verify dimensions and tolerances to ensure accurate assembly.Assist welders by preparing materials and ensuring proper fit-up.Perform tack welding when qualified and authorized.Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy and quality.Handle materials safely using cranes, forklifts, and other shop equipment.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.Follow all company safety standards and production requirements.

QualificationsPrevious plate fitting, structural fitting, or fabrication experience required.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.Strong mathematical and measuring skills.Experience using tape measures, squares, levels, and layout tools.Knowledge of structural steel fabrication practices.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent attention to detail and quality.

Preferred QualificationsExperience fitting large structural steel assemblies.Tack welding experience.Overhead crane and forklift experience.AWS welding certifications are a plus.Experience in industrial, heavy fabrication, oil & gas, or manufacturing environments.

Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions throughout the shift.Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, and dust.
