Job Description
The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR)'s NationalSecurityResearch Oversight Office (NSRO)is seeking a Classification Analyst (CA) to join our Office of Classification Team.TheNational SecurityResearchOversightOffice (NSRO)at NLRsupports the Laboratory’snationalsecurityresearch portfolioby ensuring that NLRemployees understand their role in the protection of sensitive U.S. Government information.This candidate will need a broad educational and/or experiential background in the sciences for a competent understanding of the information requiring sensitivity protections.All NLRClassification Analysts (CAs)havecompletedor willbetocomplete theDepartment of Energy (DOE)General Course for Classification Officers/Analysts (CO/CA)Training.
Jobresponsibilities:
- Responsible for working collaboratively and collegially with peers in the NLROffice of Classification,supporting the Laboratory’s Classification Officer (CO) and successfullyimplementingthe Laboratory’s Classification Programin accordance withDOE Order 475.2B,Identifying Classified Information, and Executive Order (E.O.)13526,Classified National Security Information.
- This position requiresin-depth review ofinformation for classification and National Security concerns
- The Classification Analyst must competentlyunderstandandutilizethe vastclassification guidance issued to the Laboratory viaDOEand otherU.S. Government sponsors,implementingcognizantanalysis of thediverse and often complex national securityinformationrequiring protection across the Laboratory
- TheNSROCA willparticipateinand conduct derivative classifier (DC)training forthe NLRDC programassociated with theField Intelligence Element (FIE)and provide guidance andsupport for DCs at NLRand especially within theFIE
- TheCA will alsoassistinand conduct briefings for all cleared NLRpersonnel
- As needed, theCA will collaboratively develop interpretive classification aids toassistthe Laboratory’s DCs by summarizing classification guidance fromvarious sources in the context of a specific, complex, andinterdisciplinaryproblem/project/program
- Theposition requires the senioranalyst to mentor other staff
- The senior analyst willcollaboratively develop and implement comprehensive technical training for DCs supporting the Laboratoryprograms toidentifyclassified aspects of work within specific programmatic areas
- Some aspects of these programmatic areasareconceptually novel from an information protection standpoint and will require close coordination with DOE and other respective FederalGovernment Agencies

Basic Qualifications
Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 9 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree and 7 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant PhD and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant JD and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards. Considered internal subject matter expert. Extensive knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Excellent leadership, project management and problem solving skills. Ability to use various computer software programs.* Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.
Additional Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI or DOE Q/SCI security clearance with a current investigation and the ability to maintain a DOE Q/SCI security clearance is mandatory for this position. Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. Preferred Qualifications
Working familiarity with DOE and Other Government Agency classification guidance systems
Previous experience as a Classification Analyst with DOE CO/CA training certification
A graduate degree from a STEM field from an accredited college or university

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Professional IV / Annual Salary Range: $100,400 - $180,700NLR takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
