Job Description

SMX is seeking a highly experienced Information Systems Training Specialist - Sr to support a mission-critical federal program in Washington, DC. This individual will serve as a senior training and instructional design professional responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining technology-focused training programs that enable users to effectively utilize enterprise systems, applications, and business processes. The selected candidate will act as a training subject matter expert responsible for assessing training requirements, designing instructional strategies, developing training materials, and delivering instructor-led and web-based training solutions to a diverse user community. This role requires extensive experience supporting large-scale technology initiatives, collaborating with technical and business stakeholders, and translating complex technical concepts into effective learning experiences that drive user adoption and mission success. This position will be on site in Washington DC and requires an active Top-Secret SCI clearance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze training requirements and user needs to develop comprehensive training strategies supporting enterprise systems and technology initiatives
  • Design, develop, and maintain instructor-led, virtual, web-based, and computer-based training materials
  • Create training curricula, lesson plans, student guides, instructor guides, job aids, quick reference materials, and user documentation
  • Develop training objectives, evaluation criteria, knowledge assessments, and learning measurement methodologies
  • Conduct task analyses and training needs assessments to identify knowledge gaps and required learning outcomes
  • Design instructional content using sound adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
  • Develop flow diagrams, storyboards, process documentation, and multimedia learning content to support training objectives
  • Deliver training sessions, workshops, demonstrations, and user education programs for government personnel and system users
  • Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to ensure training materials accurately reflect system functionality and operational processes
  • Develop and execute communication plans supporting system deployments, enhancements, and user adoption initiatives
  • Update existing training materials and develop new content to support evolving technologies, system enhancements, and business process changes
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements to maximize learning outcomes and user performance
  • Provide guidance, standards, and best practices for technology training programs across the organization
  • Serve as a senior training advisor supporting multiple projects and mission initiatives
  • Lead training support efforts associated with major technology deployments, modernization initiatives, and organizational change efforts
  • Evaluate training program performance and recommend strategic improvements to increase user adoption and operational effectiveness

Required Skills & Experience

  • Active TS/SCI clearance required
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience supporting training development, instructional design, user adoption, or technology training programs
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training programs for enterprise applications, information systems, or technology solutions
  • Experience conducting training needs assessments, task analyses, and learning requirements analysis
  • Experience developing instructor-led training, virtual training, web-based training, and computer-based learning content
  • Experience creating instructional materials including lesson plans, student guides, job aids, presentations, and knowledge assessments
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional systems design, and training development methodologies
  • Experience collaborating with technical subject matter experts and business stakeholders to develop accurate instructional content
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience supporting user adoption, organizational change management, or system implementation efforts
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Information Technology, Business, or related field
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience supporting federal government, law enforcement, intelligence community, or national security programs
  • Experience supporting enterprise software implementations, system modernization efforts, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Experience developing training content using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and eLearning development tools
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and software development lifecycles
  • Experience supporting data analytics, business intelligence, or enterprise reporting platforms
  • Certifications such as ATD, CPTD, CTDP, Instructional Design, Change Management, or related credentials preferred
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed user communities and large-scale training deployments
