Job Description

Client Partner, Financial Services

Ember Group Consulting is an award-winning global management consulting firm founded & headquartered in Charlotte, NC. We partner with leaders to ignite transformational and sustainable change, bringing fresh perspectives from highly skilled consultants who integrate directly into client teams. We don't just light the fire; we equip clients with the tools and knowledge for long-term success. Ember was named a Consulting Magazine Best Firm to Work For in 2026. We spark. You ignite.

Location: Charlotte, NC (preferred) · Experience: 10+ years of financial services consulting leadership

The role:

Ember is looking for a Client Partner to lead our Financial Services portfolio. You'll own our existing relationships with banks, asset managers, insurers, and payments firms, grow them into multi-year partnerships, and be fully accountable for their revenue and the quality of our work. Every Ember consultant serving our clients reports up through you.

What you'll own

  • Client relationships. Serve as the senior, trusted advisor to executives across your accounts (COO, CFO, CRO, CCO, and line-of-business leaders). Know their priorities before they're on the agenda.
  • Growth & Revenue. Own the annual revenue budget for your portfolio. Build account plans, forecast accurately, and expand scope through new workstreams, MSAs, and preferred supplier status.
  • Quality. Own delivery excellence on every engagement. Set the standard, review the work, and resolve issues before they reach the client.
  • People. Lead the consultants placed at your clients. Coach engagement principals and managers, staff the right talent, and drive utilization and retention.
  • Firm building. Shape Ember's FS offerings in areas such as regulatory remediation, risk and compliance, finance transformation, AI governance, and operations. Partner with leadership on pricing, rate cards, and go-to-market.
  • Talent planning. Partner with Ember's Talent team to anticipate recruiting needs. Read market and regulatory trends, spot where client demand is heading, and build the bench before the work arrives.
  • Thought capital. Bring fresh, practical points of view to your clients on what's changing in financial services and what to do about it. Contribute to Ember's insights, events, and executive conversations.

Requirements

What you bring

  • 10+ years of management consulting experience in financial services, including significant time as a partner, principal, or account lead
  • Proven record of owning and growing client accounts against a revenue target
  • Deep familiarity with how large financial institutions buy consulting: procurement, vendor management, and supplier programs
  • Working knowledge of the FS regulatory landscape (OCC, Fed, CFPB, SEC, FINRA, state insurance regulators)
  • Experience leading consulting teams embedded at client sites
  • An established network in the Charlotte banking community is a strong plus
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CPA, CFA, or FRM preferred

Success in year one

  • Revenue budget met or exceeded across your portfolio
  • At least one new workstream or expansion at each anchor client
  • Consultants report clear leadership, feedback, and growth paths
