Climbing Programs Lead (Full-Time, Hybrid Role)

Ogden | $18–$21/hr (Programs Lead) + $17–$19/hr (Gym Staff)

We're hiring a Climbing Programs Lead who will also work part of their week as Gym Staff, creating a full-time position with benefits and consistent hours. You'll split your time roughly 50/50 between leading programs and supporting daily gym operations.

About the Role

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Ogden.

Half of your time will be spent leading and executing youth and adult climbing programs. The other half, you'll operate as core Gym Staff - running front desk systems, supporting members, maintaining safety standards, and helping the facility function at a high level.

Compensation:

  • $18–$21/hr when working as Climbing Programs Lead

  • $17–$19/hr when working as Gym Staff

  • Full-time benefits eligible (combined hours)

Schedules include evenings, weekends, and variable shifts depending on programming and facility needs.

What You'll Do

As Climbing Programs Lead

  • Support and oversee youth and adult programs including teams, camps, clinics, and classes

  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and supervising instructors and coaches

  • Coordinate staff scheduling and registration management to ensure strong program delivery

  • Maintain curriculum, SOPs, and training materials

  • Audit instruction quality, belay technique, attendance tracking, and risk management compliance

  • Track enrollment, feedback, and performance metrics using approved systems

  • Serve as a primary contact for families, participants, and program staff

This side of the role requires leadership presence, strong organization, and the ability to hold standards.

As Gym Staff

  • Welcome members and guests, manage waivers, check-ins, and facility tours

  • Manage memberships, process transactions, and support retail and event operations

  • Monitor the climbing floor for safety, certification tags, and rule adherence

  • Conduct belay tests and autobelay orientations

  • Complete daily cleaning and facility upkeep tasks

  • Perform scheduled walk-throughs and report issues proactively

This side of the role demands consistency, customer awareness, and operational discipline.

What You Bring

You'll be a strong fit if you:

  • Have at least five years of professional experience, including climbing instruction and program leadership

  • Have 2+ years of climbing instruction and experience leading youth and/or adult programs

  • Can manage staff scheduling, onboarding, and instructor development

  • Are confident in belay systems, climbing technique, and risk mitigation practices

  • Thrive in fast-paced environments where you balance people leadership and operational detail

  • Deliver strong customer service and handle conflict professionally

  • Can work evenings, weekends, and flexible shifts

  • Hold (or can obtain before start): CWI, SafeSport, First Aid/CPR, and Utah Alcohol Certification as required

This role requires someone who can switch between coach, operator, and frontline representative without losing momentum.

Work Environment

You'll work in an active climbing gym environment with exposure to chalk, dust, and cleaning products. The role includes belaying, supervising youth participants, monitoring climbing areas, and maintaining safety awareness at all times.
