Job Description

The Clinical Application Analyst is responsible for maintaining an in-depth knowledge of supported applications and serve as a first line resource for customer support issues related to these applications. Responsibilities also include application implementation and configuration duties, as well as documentation and training. The scope of this role includes support for all providers, clinicians and staff within the clinical areas assigned.

  • Acts as the primary liaison between assigned clinical areas and project teams and fosters a positive working relationship within and among these teams.
  • Acts as a first line resource for assigned clinical area issues and escalates as appropriate. Participates in assigned area's clinical leadership meetings and regularly meets with the IT/SME group as defined by that area.
  • Participates in the management of clinical and non-clinical application implementation projects.
  • Participates in the development and presentation of project charters, project plans, timelines and communication plans.
  • Demonstrates a moderate understanding and application of principles, concepts and practices in the areas of assigned support.
  • Perform detailed needs/workflow analyses in response to user requests for new or additional functionality.
  • Assesses clinical staff training needs (with respect to technology) and develops plans to meet these needs. Develops and maintains application support and training documentation; participates in the delivery of end user training. Coordinates and provides clinical staff technology training, as required.
  • Acts as a consultant to end users, promoting effective use of applications.
  • Assesses, documents, prioritizes, coordinates and resolves operational issues related to clinical technology utilization.
  • Updates nursing on upcoming changes to their technology environment.
  • As required, acts as Project Leader when implementing or upgrading applications.
  • Participates in development of end user test plans.
  • Actively participates in the monitoring and maintenance of supported applications.
  • Monitors, responds to and prioritizes assigned support requests in accordance with established departmental policies and guidelines.
  • Escalates open issues to internal management and vendor management as appropriate.
  • Regularly attends and actively participates in departmental and project-related meetings and committees.
  • Adheres to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Communicates with end users regarding upcoming changes to their technology environment.
  • Regularly seeks opportunities to improve IT processes and systems through the use of best practices.
  • Integrate the organization's mission and vision into daily tasks through dedication to customer satisfaction, quality improvement and collaborative working relationships.
  • Adheres to safety practices, reports accidents/hazards and maintains equipment as outlined in hospital policies.
