The University of Miami, School of Education and Human Development, and the Department of Educational and Psychological Studies (EPS) invite applications for a non-tenure track, Assistant Professor of Clinical (Educator Faculty) position to direct the APA-accredited PhD program in Counseling Psychology. This is a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track appointment. We invite applications from scholars with a strong commitment to the scholarship of practice, teaching, service, and whose work has potential to make significant contributions to the field of Counseling Psychology. The successful applicant will have earned a doctorate in an APA-accredited program in Counseling Psychology.

We welcome applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to high-quality training in counseling psychology, scholarship of practice, and service. In addition to directing the PhD program in Counseling Psychology, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses and advising students across our doctoral, master's, and undergraduate programs, advising Ph.D. and Ed.D. dissertations, and providing service to the program, department, school, and university.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Ph.D. program in Counseling Psychology as Director of Training, ensuring the program's excellence and compliance with APA accreditation standards.
  • Lead all facets of doctoral education, including recruitment, admissions, graduate assistantships, program of studies, practicums, internships, and graduation/awards
  • Mentor and advise counseling psychology doctoral students and alumni on academic, clinical, and career development.
  • Teach graduate courses in the master's program in Mental Health Counseling and the doctoral program in Counseling Psychology.
  • Contribute to the undergraduate course teaching in Community and Applied Psychological Studies and/or Data Analytics and Intelligence for Social Impact.
  • Mentor and advise graduate students.
  • Contribute to departmental, school, and university service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned a doctorate in an APA-accredited program in Counseling Psychology or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated effective teaching at the university level.
  • Experience with advising and mentoring students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in graduate teaching, specifically teaching practitioner-oriented master's and doctoral students.
  • Experience advising and mentoring graduate students.
  • Experience leading or coordinating graduate academic programs, including curriculum development and assessment.
  • Experience with APA accreditation processes.
  • Experience coordinating doctoral internship placements.
  • Experience providing supervision in clinical, counseling, or field-based settings, as well as engagement in professional practice.
  • Experience developing and maintaining community or clinical partnerships to support student training and internship placement.
  • Professional licensure (or eligibility for licensure in Florida) in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, counseling).
