The Clinical Cardiac Testing Exercise Physiologist performs cardiac testing procedures (both inpatient and outpatient) in the Franciscan Health Network.   • Conduct pre-test screening and assessment of vitals (heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure and symptoms), with thorough chart review to gather relevant medical history.
  • Start IV's and administer medication intravenously under physician direction.
  • Adhere to nuclear medicine safety measures throughout nuclear cardiac procedures.
  • Interpret 12 lead EKGs; recognize changes in routine wave forms, artifact, as well as critical conditions, such as segment elevation/depression, infarct patterns, and life-threatening arrhythmias.
  • Perform standard resting electrocardiograms, and apply holter and cardiac event monitoring systems; instruct patients on monitoring and ensure follow-up with the physician.
  • Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding abnormal finding and patient progress.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science
  • Required 1 year Physical Medicine/Rehabilitation
  • Required within 180 days from hire Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Required within 180 days from hire Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
  • Preferred Master's Degree
