Job Description

Suffolk University's Center for Housing Justice & Policy (CHJP) is seeking excellent attorney candidates for a full-time Fellow position to advance our mission. Experience in fair housing, civil rights law, and/or landlord/tenant law is preferred. Candidates should be culturally competent and have a demonstrated commitment to or experience working with low-income client communities, communities of color, limited English speakers, and disabled people. Candidates must have impeccable professional habits, including efficient time management, thorough follow-through, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to give and receive feedback. Candidates must have a law degree.

Position Description:

The Clinical Fellow, Fair Housing Test Coordinator, will lead the design and implementation of grant-funded fair housing testing projects and contribute to CHJP's enforcement and education efforts. This attorney-level role combines investigative work with legal analysis and requires strong organizational skills, cultural competency, and attention to detail. The Fellow will work as a member of the CHJP team, which is a part of Suffolk Law School's nationally recognized Clinical Programs. The Fellow will perform a range of duties including:

  • Design, implement, and coordinate fair housing tests to meet grant deliverables.
  • Analyze testing results and prepare accurate, detailed reports suitable for enforcement.
  • Recruit, train, and maintain a diverse pool of fair housing testers.
  • Assist with client intakes as needed.
  • Engage in community education and outreach; develop and conduct 'know your rights' presentations on fair housing.
  • Maintain accurate case management and timekeeping records in compliance with grant requirements.
  • Attend and participate in in-person and remote meetings.
  • Perform other duties as needed to meet project goals.

Hours and Duration: This is a remote position with the option of hybrid or in‑office work based on the Fellow's preference. The position is full‑time through February 28, 2027.

Continuation of the position will be contingent on future funding, program needs, financial considerations, and the Fellow's performance in carrying out the position's responsibilities, as well as adherence to the relevant terms of employment of the University and Law School.
