For individuals transitioning from closed custody correctional facilities, Cherry Health provides Person Centered Reentry Services to ease the transition back into the community. Services are available at two locations: our Community Treatment Center (CTC) in Detroit and Community Alternatives Program (CAP) in Grand Rapids. Services include 24-hour residential treatment in a structured environment with individual and group counseling services. Some participants come to us directly from a correctional facility, while others come as part of a diversion program to keep them out of prison. Together, we work to address health issues (including behavioral health issues) and other reentry needs i.e., employment, education, housing, and fostering connections to help justice system involved persons successfully reintegrate back into their respective communities.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

The Manager, Clinical- Reentry is responsible for overseeing the entire clinical process within the reentry program, including case management, therapy, treatment plan development, ancillary services, employment services, case reviews, group counseling, aftercare planning, and client case monitoring. This role involves the supervision and professional development of the clinical team.

The Manager must adhere to the organization's Policies, Procedures, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards. They are expected to represent the organization’s mission in all actions and communications.

Business hours: Monday through Friday. However, occasional early morning, night, and weekend work may be required to accomplish the essential job functions of this position. This position is working onsite at our Community Treatment Center in Detroit

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership and Staff Development:
    • Demonstrate leadership and management skills to create a culture of mentoring, coaching, motivating, and engaging staff.
    • Model and communicate key values to both staff and the community, ensuring alignment with Cherry Health’s mission.
    • Educate and empower staff to meet organizational needs, adjusting schedules, priorities, and assignments for optimal operation.
  • Clinical Supervision and Process Oversight:
    • Oversee the development of ancillary services, treatment methods, and strategies to meet the specific therapeutic needs of the resident population (e.g., education, vocational training, career development, and aftercare planning).
    • Direct, supervise, train, evaluate competencies, and address performance issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
    • Review clinical documentation regularly to ensure compliance with contractual and organizational requirements.
    • Prepare and implement audit responses and corrective action plans.
  • Case Management and Program Development:
    • Lead case conferences and staff meetings to review case progress, updates, and challenges.
    • Approve individual treatment plans developed by staff and residents, ensuring comprehensive aftercare recommendations.
    • Assist in the development and monitoring of the program’s budget.
    • Represent the program in community meetings, serving as a clinical consultant to referral sources and partner agencies.
  • Training and Compliance:
    • Facilitate and attend workshops, seminars, and training aimed at enhancing the development and management of residential treatment programs.
    • Keep up to date with federal and state regulations, laws, and policies impacting the field.
    • Maintain professional development through continuing education to meet licensure and certification requirements.
  • Supervision and Reporting:
    • Supervise and evaluate the clinical staff’s performance, assist with professional growth, and contribute to performance appraisals.
    • Maintain regular documentation of individual supervision meetings with staff.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • May supervise students assigned for professional practicums.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and Experience:
    • Experience with adult residential treatment, particularly within the context of mental health and substance use disorders.
    • Knowledge of resident rights, confidentiality, case management systems, and the criminal justice system.
    • Experience in substance abuse treatment and vocational/career counseling.
    • Familiarity with group facilitation, process development, and ancillary treatment services.
    • Statistical record-keeping, research, and data analysis experience.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Strong relationship-building skills to foster positive outcomes for clients and staff.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in documentation and case reviews.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:

  • Required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
  • Required: Full state licensure in the field of study.
  • Required: CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor) and CCS (Certified Clinical Supervisor) certification through Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or eligibility to complete certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Other: Valid state driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Required: Minimum of 5 years of clinical treatment experience, particularly in mental health and substance use disorders casework, group counseling, intake, assessments, case plan development, CBT, and aftercare planning.
  • Preferred: Experience in clinical supervision and staff development.
  • Alternative Qualifications: Equivalent combination of education, training, and/or relevant work experience demonstrating the capability to perform the essential functions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grasping: Occasional use of fingers, thumb, and palm
  • Finger use: Frequent typing and computer use
  • Vision: Near vision for reading, far vision for vehicle operation
  • Hearing and Speaking: Regular verbal communication required
  • Lifting: Light work (lifting up to 20 lbs at a time, with frequent lifting of 10 lbs)
  • PPE: Use of personal protective equipment as required

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Indoor, Office Environment: Majority of work conducted indoors with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or temperature fluctuations.
  • Outdoor Conditions: Occasional exposure to outdoor weather
  • Exposure to Risk: Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and clients with illnesses or infections

  • Supervision Given: Supervise clinical staff and non-Cherry Health workers (e.g., contractors, students), including performance evaluations, hiring, and corrective actions.
