Clinical Product Data Management Lead

Location: Remote - EST hours preferred Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Clinical Product Data Management Lead to provide leadership, guidance, and oversight for a newly forming clinical product data management team. This individual will serve as a key point of contact across Clinical R&D, product, business, and technical stakeholders while overseeing the management and evolution of product master data throughout the pharmaceutical development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of how a molecule progresses from early clinical development through commercialization and how the underlying product data, hierarchies, naming conventions, relationships, and structures evolve throughout that process. This individual will also provide functional oversight and guidance to two Clinical Product Data Stewards/Curators and help establish best practices for the new team. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to Clinical Product Data Stewards/Curators.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clinical product master data activities and stakeholder requests.
• Establish and promote best practices for managing product master data within a Clinical R&D environment.
• Oversee the creation, maintenance, and modification of product data structures and hierarchies.
• Ensure products, molecules, compounds, formulations, and related entities are appropriately named, structured, linked, and maintained.
• Understand and manage how product data evolves as a molecule progresses through clinical development and ultimately moves toward commercialization and branded products.
• Provide guidance around complex product relationships and changes that occur throughout the product lifecycle.
• Partner closely with Clinical R&D, product, business, data, and technology stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into appropriate master data structures.
• Oversee requests for the creation, modification, and maintenance of product master data.
• Provide subject matter expertise around product data governance, quality, consistency, and lifecycle management.
• Identify opportunities to improve product data processes, standards, and controls.
• Help establish processes and operating standards for a newly forming team as responsibilities transition from the current provider.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in master data management, data governance, data stewardship, clinical data management, product data management, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, ideally supporting Clinical R&D and product master data.
• 2+ years of leadership, team lead, or functional oversight experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical product lifecycle, including how a molecule/compound progresses through clinical development and ultimately toward commercialization.
• Hands-on experience working with product master data, product hierarchies, naming conventions, relationships, and changing product structures.
• Experience establishing or improving master data management and data governance best practices.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across clinical, product, business, and technical teams.
• Ability to operate as both a hands-on subject matter expert and a leader for the broader team.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and the ability to understand or execute queries is preferred but not required.

Ideal Background The strongest candidates will have direct experience managing clinical product master data within a large pharmaceutical or biotech organization and understand the evolution of product data from molecule/compound development through commercialization. Experience building, transitioning, or improving a data stewardship or master data management function would be highly desirable.
