Job Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Cardiovascular Disease, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II

We are seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II to join our multidisciplinary Cardiovascular Clinical and Translational Research Program to support NIH- and industry-sponsored clinical trials. This position requires independent coordination of participant recruitment, regulatory compliance, study operations, data management, and biospecimen processing. This position is essential to the Arora Lab as it serves a critical role in the successful implementation and management of complex cardiovascular clinical research studies. The role is critical to ensuring participant safety, maintaining data integrity, and supporting the successful execution of the Arora Lab's clinical and translational research initiatives.

General Responsibilities

  • To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.

  • To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.

  • To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates study operations from participant recruitment through study completion, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, sponsor requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, and institutional policies.

  • Supports the lab's growing clinical trial portfolio through oversight of participant enrollment, informed consent, regulatory submissions, study visit coordination, data management, biospecimen processing, and study monitoring activities.

  • Works closely with investigators, research staff, clinical partners, and sponsors to maintain the integrity of study data, ensure participant safety, and facilitate the timely execution of research objectives.

  • Requires independent judgment, strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple protocols simultaneously in a fast-paced research environment. This position is instrumental in advancing the lab's mission to improve cardiovascular health outcomes through innovative clinical and translational research.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $81,330

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Biotechnology preferred.

  • Interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  • Written and verbal communication skills.
