Job Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Med - Infectious Diseases, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II. The Clinical Research Coordinator II will provide support to all aspects of studies by completing Institutional Review Board applications, modifications, and status reports.

General Responsibilities

  • To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.

  • To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.

  • To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains adherence to research protocols, standard operating procedures, and verifies accuracy of research data.

  • Continues excellent communication with sponsors, monitors, health care providers, and outside agencies regarding ongoing activities.

  • Recruits, screens, and approaches potential subjects and determines eligibility according to established criteria.

  • Schedules, conducts, and documents research study visits using case report forms according to institutional and sponsor guidelines.

  • Coordinates various meetings with study staff, collaborators, and other stakeholders, including community partners.

  • Determines study costs and builds a budget for new studies, while complying with institutional-specific billing regulations.

  • In conjunction with investigators, plans and implements the clinical protocol's goals and objectives.

  • Compiles, edits, and proofs written reports for both internal and external administrative offices.

  • Provides data for the creation of study budgets as needed.

  • Ideally, the candidate will also support data management, including data quality control processes; principal investigators with quantitative and qualitative data analysis; abstract and manuscript writing; and future grant writing and support.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $81,330

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
