Job Description

Who We Are

Tasso is a fast-growing Seattle-based startup focused on delivering at-home diagnostic testing to those who need it most. We are growing our footprint with leading health systems, clinical research organizations, academic medical centers, and more who are looking to deliver clinical-grade, convenient diagnostic tests to their patients. Tasso was originally founded to find a better way to collect blood instead of a painful fingerstick or time-consuming venous draw. Since then, our products have been used in pharmaceutical clinical trials, by Olympians as part of a new virtual anti-doping program, and broadly by hospital systems across the US.

We are looking for a Clinical Research Laboratory Coordinator, a Seattle-based role responsible for handling clinical research study materials and specimens for the Clinical team. This position will report to our Associate Director, Clinical Operations. An ideal candidate will have at a minimum 2 years’ experience in a clinical research laboratory setting.

What You Will Do Study materials and device accountability:

  • Build, requisition, or otherwise procure study device kits per study forecast and scheduling needs, accounting for production and shipping lead times
  • Ensure accountability for study devices, including shipment, inventory, reconciliation, and disposition records
  • Maintain inventory of study and laboratory supplies (e.g., phlebotomy supplies, specimen tubes)

Specimen handling and processing:

  • Process specimens collected at the Seattle clinic (e.g., centrifugation, aliquoting, storage) in accordance with study protocols
  • Support on-site specimen collection and phlebotomy as needed
  • Maintain specimen inventory, storage conditions, and tracking records
  • Follow and help maintain laboratory and specimen-handling standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Periodic operation of in-house analyzers and assays (e.g., hematology analyzers)
  • Perform routine instrument quality control and maintenance
  • Maintain laboratory documents, manuals, and records
  • Schedule biohazard waste pickups and disposal

Materials and Specimen Shipping:

  • Ship study kits to partner laboratories, clinic sites, and at-home collection settings as needed
  • Prepare, package, and ship specimens to in-house and external laboratories, maintaining chain of custody and shipping documentation
  • Prepare accessioning documents, shipping manifests, or other chain-of-custody records

Who You Are

  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Primarily on-site in Seattle five days per week
  • Hold an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in life sciences or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Have 2+ years of experience in specimen handling, clinical/laboratory operations, materials or inventory coordination, or a comparable role
  • Demonstrated reliability managing supply, inventory, or logistics pipelines that carry external dependencies and lead times
  • Strong organizational skills and consistent follow-through on long-horizon, deadline-driven dependencies
  • Experience with specimen processing, packaging, and chain of custody
  • Detail-oriented and self-directed
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation (e.g., hematology analyzers, plate readers) preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn research inventory and data systems
  • Occasional travel to partner laboratories or study sites may be required (estimated up to 10%)
  • GCP and IATA training (to be completed within 30 days of hire if not already held)
  • Able to lift and handle laboratory shipments and supplies as needed
  • Able to perform ther responsibilities as assigned

What We Offer

We have a strong healthcare-driven mission, and your guidance and efforts will directly link to our success.  We embrace diversity and equal opportunity and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
