A Typical Day for a Clinical Resource Specialist:
Interim Leadership Support
- Serve as an interim Director of Health Services or Assistant Director of Health Services, ensuring continuity of leadership and clinical operations during vacancies or transitions.
- Lead and support day‑to‑day clinical operations, including staffing oversight, care delivery, and workflow support.
- Maintain clinical leadership responsibilities within the Electronic Health Record (PointClickCare).
- Provide onsite direction, coaching, and decision‑making aligned with WesleyLife expectations, policies, and standards of practice.
Clinical Quality & Documentation Leadership
- Ensure clinical documentation accurately reflects residents' conditions, care needs, and services provided.
- Evaluate documentation practices and support nursing team members in consistently maintaining high‑quality, compliant records.
- Provide education and instruction to team members regarding required documentation, nurse notes, care planning processes, and clinical expectations.
- Provide education and support related to admissions processes, baseline care plans, Kardex development, and care transitions.
Audit, Compliance & Regulatory Support
- Conduct audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with State and Federal regulations and WesleyLife standards.
- Identify areas of improvement and collaborate with community team members to create and implement actionable plans.
- Prepare reports for local leaders and the Network Support Center outlining findings, risks, and recommendations.
- Participate in annual DIA survey processes, mock surveys, and regulatory visits as requested.
Requirements:
- Must hold an active, unencumbered Iowa RN license.
- Minimum of two years of leadership-level experience in geriatric nursing or long‑term care.
- Expert knowledge of State and Federal regulations, clinical standards of practice, CMS/DIA requirements, quality assurance systems, and person‑directed care models.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical practices relevant to long-term care and/or skilled stay.
- High professionalism, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of residents, team, and business information.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and operational leaders at all levels.
- Strong communication, relationship‑building, and coaching skills.
- High flexibility and adaptability due to the provisional nature of the role, with the ability to lead through influence rather than authority.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and support change across diverse teams and environments.
- Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical leadership, operational leadership, and team members.
- Strong communication, coaching, and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to work independently, quickly assess situations, and lead with confidence.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new environments quickly and lead through influence.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and time‑management skills.
- Comfort and effectiveness in a full‑travel role, supporting multiple communities as needs arise.
