Job Description

Position Summary

The Clinician provides direct individual, group, educational, and case management services to residents with substance use and/or mental health disorders. Responsibilities include conducting screenings, assessments, and treatment planning using ASAM criteria. The Clinician facilitates a structured therapeutic milieu and supports participant engagement in daily recovery activities using an integrated treatment approach.

Pay Range: Between $52,000 - $57,000 (depending on degree)

Open Shift: Monday, Wednesday through Friday 8am-4pm, Tuesday 11am-7pm (40hrs)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening, intake, assessments, and treatment planning based on ASAM criteria
  • Provide individual and group counseling to support recovery goals
  • Facilitate daily therapeutic programming and community meetings
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and funding standards
  • Coordinate with community providers, families, and support systems to ensure integrated care
  • Promote and model trauma-informed, culturally responsive care practices
  • Respond appropriately to resident crises and participate in critical incident review processes
  • Support a safe and recovery-oriented residential environment
  • Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing training
  • Adhere to all applicable licensing, agency, and confidentiality standards
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and person-centered approaches
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care
  • Assist residents in developing aftercare and relapse prevention plans

About the GRIT Program

The GRIT program at MHA provides residential rehabilitation for individuals with substance use challenges and co-occurring mental health conditions. Residents participate in individualized counseling, recovery-focused programming, and community activities such as education, job training, or employment, all within a structured and supportive environment. With locations in Springfield (men’s programs) and Holyoke (LGBTQIA+ program), GRIT combines the comforts of home with access to vital resources. A skilled, multidisciplinary team works closely with each resident to support recovery, personal growth, and long-term stability, while creating personalized aftercare plans for a successful return to the community.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license, safe and reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Licensure (LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, or LADC1) strongly preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently and collaboratively
  • Experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders preferred
  • Must be able to pass and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to support a diverse population
