Job Description: CNC Lathe OperatorLocation: Claremore, OKPay Rate: $18.00 $21.00/hour (Depending on Experience)Shifts Available:1st Shift (7:00 AM 4:00 PM)The CNC Lathe Operator sets up and operates CNC turning centers/lathes to produce high-precision aerospace, defense, and industrial components. This role involves loading pre-programmed turning files, performing tool callouts and offset adjustments, loading raw bar stock or chucked materials, and inspecting finished cylindrical parts to ensure exact tolerances.Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation & Setup: Set up, adjust, and operate 2-axis to multi-axis CNC lathes and turning centers according to job travelers, blueprints, and setup sheets.
- Tooling & Offsets: Select, align, and touch off cutting inserts, boring bars, and chuck jaws. Make G-code/M-code offset adjustments and tool wear corrections as needed.
- Blueprint & Spec Verification: Interpret engineering prints, customer drawings, GD&T callouts, and work orders to verify thread callouts, diameters, radii, and chamfers.
- Precision Measurement: Conduct first-piece and in-process quality inspections using micrometers, outer-diameter (OD) calipers, bore gauges, pitch micrometers, and optical comparators.
- Production & Maintenance: Load raw bar stock or castings into machines/bar feeders. Perform routine daily machine maintenance (coolant levels, chip removal) and log completion times.
- Experience: 1+ years of CNC turning/lathe operation experience; aerospace or precision job shop background preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of lathe operations (turning, facing, boring, grooving, threading) and basic blueprint reading.
- Inspection Tools: Proficiency using precision measuring devices (micrometers, dial calipers, height gauges).
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for 810+ hours per day, bend, and lift up to 4050 lbs routinely.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; machine tool technology certification is a plus.
