Overview
Job Description
- Set up and operate CNC turning centers and/or machining centers with assistance from a supervisor, experienced machinist, or other experienced personnel.
- Follow written and verbal procedures as assigned.
- Read and interpret work order routings, prints, sketches, and tool sheets, as required.
- Must be able to recognize and understand machine functions as required.
- Knowledge of working with a variety of material is required.
- Have the ability to use preset tools.
- Ability to understand and follow a tool path within a program.
- Inspect work using micrometer; bore gage, vernier calipers, or other measuring precision instruments. This may include micrometers up to 25”.
- Set up and operate turning centers and/or machining centers. Select proper feeds, speeds and tooling. Determine clamping methods and make machine adjustments with limited use of fixtures.
- Both mills and lathes will be responsible for maintaining tolerances per drawing requirements.
- Knowledge of CNC programming using G&M code is preferred. Must have the ability to perform basic edits and offsets.
- May provide technical leadership and train less experienced machinist.
- Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies, reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Make proper labor and time report entries.
- Keep machine(s) / work area clean and orderly.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Basic machinist knowledge of numerical controlled machining center and/or turning center experience.
- Ability to read and interpret work related machine drawings.
- Make average mathematical calculations and resolve elementary technical problems.
- Experience as a Manual machinist a plus
- Mechanical aptitude, detail orientated, quality and safety minded
