Job Description

Job title: CNC Machinist 

Reports to: CNC Foreman/Shop Foreman 

Supervisory responsibilities: None. 

Summary/objective: Specialty Tooling Systems (STS) is looking to add a CNC Machinist to their night shift team. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for running the Okuma Bridge Mill. In general, the CNC Machinist produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine 

Essential functions: 

  • Download programs and MDI (Manual Data Input) as needed. 

  • Ability to perform your own programming and running your details. 

  • Setup and machine to the proper programs and tolerances required. 

  • Recheck setups, change cutters and inserts, and make adjustments as needed to achieve the best possible results. 

  • Maintain appropriate tools and keep current on calibration. 

  • Keep work area clean. 

  • Follow all safety rules and report unsafe work conditions to management. 

  • Regular attendance at work during scheduled work hours. 

  • Employees may be requested to perform other job functions as required. 

Required competency, education, and experience:  

  • Experience with 5 axis mill 

  • Experience with Mazak, YCM, Hurco, or Okuma Mills 

  • A well rounded knowledge of cutters and inserts, and feeds/speeds. 

  • Candidate must have high school or equivalent education. 

  • Candidate must have valid driver’s license 

Preferred education and experience:  

  • Work NC programming software

Work environment: Manufacturing environment 

Physical demands:  

  • Candidate must have full use of all limbs. 

  • Candidate must be able to read and speak English. 

  • Candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds. 

Position type and expected hours of work: Full time. 10-12 hour shifts depending on work load (4 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. or 5 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.) Monday through Friday. 

Travel: None.
