Job Description

Location: Hartland, WIJob Type: Direct Hire / Full-TimeShift: 1st and 3rd availableWe are seeking an experienced CNC Set-Up Machinist to join a precision manufacturing team. This position is responsible for performing complete machine setups, supporting production, and ensuring quality standards are met on Haas and DMG CNC mills and lathes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with tooling, fixturing, offsets, first-article inspections, and working from Mastercam-generated programs.This is an excellent opportunity for a machinist who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys troubleshooting, process improvement, and producing high-quality precision components. ResponsibilitiesCNC Setup & Operation
  • Perform complete setups on Haas and DMG CNC mills and lathes, including tooling installation, workholding, fixturing, and offset adjustments.*
  • Load, prove out, and run CNC programs created in Mastercam.*
  • Conduct first-article inspections and make adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications.*
  • Monitor production runs and adjust tooling, offsets, or processes as needed.*
  • Set up and operate CNC vertical machining centers and horizontal lathes.*
  • Perform MDI (Manual Data Input) programming.*
  • Monitor part quality throughout the machining process.*
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality & Inspection
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.*
  • Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.*
  • Maintain tight tolerances and proactively address quality concerns.
Process Improvement & Troubleshooting
  • Work with programmers and engineers to improve setup efficiency, cycle times, and repeatability.*
  • Follow setup sheets, tooling lists, and work instructions.*
  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, fixturing, materials, and machine performance.*
  • Support process standardization, scrap reduction, and production efficiency efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of CNC setup experience on mills and/or lathes.*
  • Hands-on experience with Haas and/or DMG Mori CNC machines.*
  • Working knowledge of Mastercam and the ability to run CAM-generated programs.*
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.*
  • Experience working in a tight-tolerance precision machining environment.*
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 4-axis and/or 5-axis machining.*
  • Ability to perform basic CNC program edits using G-code.*
  • Background in aerospace, medical device, automotive, or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environments.*
  • Familiarity with setup optimization and process documentation.
