Job Description
We are seeking a Commercial Construction Project Manager (Ground-Up, Tenant Improvement, & Commercial Interiors) in Fort Lauderdale market. This role is ideal for a construction professional with a strong background working for mid-sized General Contractors (75–250 employees) who understands the pace, structure, and accountability of commercial project delivery.
The Project Manager will oversee projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring schedule adherence, cost control, subcontractor coordination, and client satisfaction.
Project types include office, retail, and mid-rise commercial developments, including both ground-up construction and interior renovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Oversee ground-up and interior build-out (TI) projects
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (CPM scheduling preferred)
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Lead subcontractor buyout, contract negotiation, and scope alignment
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Coordinate with superintendents, architects, engineers, consultants, and ownership
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality control, and local building codes
- Maintain proactive communication with clients and stakeholders
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Project Manager
- Proven success managing ground-up commercial construction projects
- Experience overseeing interior build-outs / tenant improvements (TI)
- Experience working with mid-sized General Contractors preferred
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods and building systems
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial oversight
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar software
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and client-facing communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Office, retail, and mid-rise commercial construction
- Local South Florida market experience
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
