Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Evaluate the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for credit with the bank to determine the Member's credit worthiness.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Researches and analyzes pertinent financial information for existing and potential commercial and consumer clients.
  • Supports Commercial Lenders, Private Bankers, Branch Managers and Senior Bank Management through financial/credit analysis, ratio calculation and other requested underwriting support.

Prepares the full suite of Credit Analysis Products:

  • Personal Cash Flows
  • Combined multiple Personal Cash Flows
  • Business spreads
  • Combined multiple business spreads
  • Builder Cash Flow Model
  • Financial Analysis Summary
  • Prepares business spreads based on tax returns and/or business financial statements. Documents business trends that would have an affect on the Member's ability to service the proposed or current debt obligation.
  • Obtains credit bureau reports (Experian, D&B, retail credit) for the review of personal payment history and prepares business and global cash flows.
  • Provides research into industry trends and evaluation of market data impacting prospective or existing clients' business.
  • Assists in developing forms and processes as necessary.
  • Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:

  • High school graduate.
  • College degree in business or compensating work experience in credit department and / or financial institution preferred; experience in field taken into consideration.
  • Must be efficient and thorough, possess strong organizational skills, work well on your own and possess a willingness to learn and help others.
  • Position requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with computers and related software (Excel, Word, Access)

Desired Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial/credit documents and statements, including Corporate tax returns, Partnership returns and Sub-chapter S returns. Ability to analyze personal financial conditions and personal tax returns and cash basis sole proprietors. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Must be a critical thinker with ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Organized, detail oriented, ability to clearly articulate matters whether over the phone or in person. Capable of working independently, ability to plan and set priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work under stress and manage deadlines. Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Working knowledge of applicable industry, law and regulations required to review credit risk. Strong verbal and writing skills in addition to excellent computer skills (Word and Excel). Desired completion of Loan Administration provided and/or outside Commercial Credit Training Program within six months of start date.

Physical Requirements:

  • Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
  • Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
