Job Description
Estimator PositionThis Central Jersey-based commercial General Contractor has been in business for more than 40 years and has built an outstanding reputation throughout the region. If you are looking for a respected contractor with a collaborative culture, strong project backlog, and excellent work/life balance, this could be the opportunity for you.Job DescriptionThe Estimator will:Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, equipment, and time requirements
Prepare project estimates by reviewing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
Resolve discrepancies through detailed cost analysis and information gathering
Present completed estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and market trends
Perform conceptual, schematic, design development, and hard bid estimates
Review plans and specifications for consistency, accuracy, and completeness
Manage all levels of quantity takeoffs while applying appropriate unit pricing
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
Identify value engineering opportunities and project cost savings
Collaborate with project managers and preconstruction personnel to successfully pursue projects

MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants.The Successful ApplicantThe Estimator should have:5+ years of estimating experience, preferably with a Commercial General ContractorExperience bidding commercial construction projects valued at $5 million or greater
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferredOSHA certification preferred
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost estimating principles
Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
