Commercial Mechanical Estimator

TechPro Mechanical, LLC | Westfield, Indiana | Full Time

TechPro Mechanical is hiring a Commercial Mechanical Estimator to quote commercial HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and equipment replacement work. You’ll help move opportunities from technician findings to customer approval, giving our operations team a clear plan to deliver the work successfully.

Based out of our Westfield office, you’ll work closely with our HVAC and Plumbing Directors, technicians, suppliers, and company leadership. The role includes office-based estimating and site visits when needed.

What You’ll Do

Review technician notes, photos, equipment information, and customer requests to develop complete repair and replacement scopes.
Coordinate with operations leaders and field technicians to clarify missing information and confirm the proposed solution.
Conduct or coordinate site visits to verify measurements, access, equipment connections, and installation requirements.
Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotes, confirm equipment availability, and verify lead times.
Estimate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, permits, rentals, freight, disposal, and other applicable costs.
Apply company-approved pricing and margin standards, bringing unusual risks or pricing exceptions to leadership.
Prepare professional proposals that clearly explain the work, inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, and customer responsibilities.
Prioritize urgent quotes and manage multiple estimating deadlines.
Follow up on submitted proposals, answer customer questions, and keep approval status current.
Hand off approved work with a clear scope, equipment selections, labor allowance, material requirements, and customer commitments.
Compare estimates with actual job results to improve future pricing and accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

Experience estimating, quoting, or planning commercial mechanical repairs, service, or replacement projects.
Practical knowledge of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, or plumbing systems.
Ability to interpret field reports, equipment specifications, supplier quotes, and jobsite measurements.
Strong math skills and an understanding of job costs, markup, and gross margin.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Strong organization, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
Comfort using Excel, email, and estimating or field service software.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with technical leaders.
Willingness to visit commercial jobsites as needed.
Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company insurance requirements.

Experience That Stands Out

Estimating experience across HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing.
Background as a service technician, mechanical estimator, project manager, or equipment supplier representative.
Experience quoting rooftop units, refrigeration equipment, water heaters, piping, and other commercial mechanical systems.
Familiarity with crane coordination, subcontractors, equipment rentals, and permitting costs.
Experience with Service Fusion or similar service-management software.
Experience preparing proposals for commercial customers or facility-management companies.
