Job Type: Full-TimePay: $19–$22 per hour (based on experience) + Overtime
Job Summary
Since 1985, City Food Equipment has been a trusted leader in commercial restaurant equipment sales and service throughout the Chicagoland area. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Restaurant Equipment Service Technician with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills to join our service team.
With locations in Chicago, Lombard, and Wisconsin, City Food Equipment is one of the largest restaurant equipment service companies in the region. We take pride in strong customer relationships and a supportive, team-oriented work environment.
This role is ideal for a hands-on technician experienced in repairing commercial kitchen and food service equipment, including mixers, cooking equipment, and food prep machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial restaurant equipment
- Service equipment including commercial mixers (gearboxes, shafts, transmissions), ovens, fryers, steamers, food prep equipment, refrigeration units, and smallwares with mechanical components
- Perform electrical diagnostics (motors, switches, wiring, relays, controls)
- Repair mechanical systems (belts, bearings, gear assemblies, drive components)
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and health codes
- Test equipment after repair to confirm proper operation and safety compliance
- Maintain accurate service records, including parts and labor documentation
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding diagnoses, timelines, and recommendations
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and service inventory
Required Qualifications
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience working with electrical or electronic systems
- Ability to use a multimeter
- Experience with commercial mixers or restaurant equipment preferred
- Valid Class D driver’s license with clean driving record
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA certification (for refrigeration-related work)
- Manufacturer or factory training certifications
- Field service experience
