Commercial Roofing Estimator
Location: Villa Park, IL (Greater Chicago Area)
Reports To: Branch Leadership
Salary: $85,000 – $120,000 DOE

They are seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator who has worked directly for a commercial roofing contractor and understands the importance of accuracy, collaboration, and detail-driven estimating.
Position Summary
The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for new construction and replacement commercial roofing projects across multiple systems. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Sales, and Operations to ensure scopes, pricing, and proposals are complete, precise, and executable. The ideal candidate brings strong technical roofing knowledge, advanced computer skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimating & Preconstruction
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for new construction and replacement commercial roofing projects
- Perform take-offs, labor projections, material pricing, and subcontractor evaluations
- Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to ensure complete and accurate scopes
- Develop bid packages and proposals with clear pricing and scope narratives
- Support pricing negotiations in coordination with sales and leadership
- Technical & Systems Knowledge
- Estimate multiple commercial roofing systems and manufacturers (TPO, EPDM, PVC, Modified, Built-Up, Metal, etc.)
- Maintain current knowledge of manufacturer requirements, specifications, and warranty options
- Utilize Edge Estimating software (highly preferred) or comparable estimating platforms
- Ensure estimates align with internal standards, production rates, and margin expectations
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Partner closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Sales to support bid strategy and project turnover
- Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and internal estimate reviews
- Support a smooth transition from estimating to operations
Accuracy & Detail Control
- Produce complete, consistent, and highly accurate estimates
- Track bid status, revisions, and awarded work
- Maintain organized, auditable estimating files
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Commercial Roofing Estimator
- Prior experience working directly for a commercial roofing contractor (required)
- Proven background estimating new construction and replacement roofing projects
- Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems and manufacturers
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and numbers
- Advanced computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software
- Edge Estimating or similar software experience strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
