Job Description

To manage the daily duties for content creation and specific communications projects, such as executive communications, editorial content, and social media for the Heersink School of Medicine or a department/center, which may also include supervising a program or staff member/intern, and/or ensuring the implementation and success of communications projects. To execute communications strategy and projects in alignment with the university's external and internal strategy, developing targeted written content for specific school, dept or center audiences, setting best practices and processes in their functional areas, operating as a resource and conducting trainings for other SOM communicators in these specific areas. To collaborate with Heersink School of Medicine leadership or departmental leadership, University Relations, and UAB Health System marketing to amplify and strengthen employee engagement, culture, and values. To manage content workflow and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the daily duties for content creation and specific communications projects, such as executive communications, editorial content, and social media for the Heersink School of Medicine or a department/center.
  • Executes communications strategy and projects in alignment with the university's external and internal strategy.
  • Develops targeted written content for specific school, dept or center audiences, setting best practices and processes in their functional areas.
  • Operates as a resource and conducts trainings for other SOM communicators in these specific areas.
  • Collaborates with Heersink School of Medicine leadership or departmental leadership, University Relations, and UAB Health System marketing to amplify and strengthen employee engagement, culture and values
  • Manages content workflow and processes.
  • May also supervise a program or staff member/intern and/or ensuring the implementation and success of communications projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $52,555 - $85,400

Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism or a related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
