Duties and Essential Functions

- Responsible for developing effective, accurate messaging and communications strategies for the community activities and events, as well as for its committees, as needed
- Creates and oversees promotional and informative print, digital, audio and video materials for the community, with input from the board and committees
- Makes sure all community materials have consistent and positive messaging and branding
- Uploads and updates web page and serve as the content administrator for the community website including board and committee minutes, news, articles, photos and other content
- Ensures that hardware and software are functioning correctly
- Schedules and coordinates programs and special events in coordination with management and community representatives.
- Schedules social, educational and fitness classes for our residents (ex: aerobics, yoga, foreign language, art classes, etc.) conducted by certified (as required) instructors. Verifies and obtains license and insurance documentation, when appropriate.
- Communicates and coordinates with volunteer chairpersons of various activities, clubs and special interest groups managing special events or activities.
- Manages uploading new information to community website and removes/archives information no longer needed.
- Ensures that weekly and monthly communications are proofread to correct errors and disseminated to the community according to an agreed schedule.
- Proactive in identifying opportunities to the Lifestyle Director and Board Liaisons to disseminate information to the community.
- Supports Lifestyle Director in preparing for and executing lifestyle events.
- Create content for newsletters.
- Support Board/Committees with development of presentations.
Competencies required;
- Strong written and verbal skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.
- Should be comfortable working on and delivering messages through a variety of platforms.
- The ability to work with a diverse group of people including; Board of Directors, committee and management staff.
- Analytical skills to solve problems and creativity to produce exciting and interesting content.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize projects while working on a deadline or in a fast-paced environment.
- Technological ability to work on a variety of digital platforms and create web and mobile content including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required lift objects up to 25 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time exempt (salaried) position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This schedule may change to accommodate the business needs of the Association
Travel
Some travel will be required to and from Association’s storage location
Required Education and Experience
- At least five years of professional experience in a communications, public relations or marketing roles. Should be able to demonstrate experience and show examples of high-quality work.
- A bachelor’s or associate's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, English, or a related field.
- Must possess current knowledge of industry trends and new technologies.
- Proficient in creative and publishing software.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of website development, content management tools and protocols.
