Job Description

Job Title: Alumni Program Manager Status: Full Time/Exempt

Department: Operations Reports To: VP Operations

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Alumni Program Manager (APM) will focus on the recruitment and engagement of new, current, and CIS alumni participants, and will provide assistance in both educational and career development pursuits. The Alumni Program Manager will develop, coordinate, and provide organizational supervision over the program curriculum and events to create an ecosystem of community leadership. This position will prepare and connect student and community leaders to drive collective impact, as well as foster and support diversity and equity in our community.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, people and collaboration skills, business acumen, exemplary work ethic, drive, strong organizational skills, self-motivation, facilitation and problem solving skills. The ideal candidate will also possess the ability to cross cultural boundaries to build and maintain strong working relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and coordinates targeted outreach to CIS graduates to maintain engagement, including educational and employment workshops, networking opportunities and a mentoring program to pair alumni with professionals and leaders in the community
  • Track key metrics and conduct ongoing assessments of CIS alumni
  • Creates and facilitates educational and employment workshops with a special focus on Career Exploration, College Persistence, Economic Mobility
  • Develops and implements a mentoring program pairing alumni of the program with community leaders/member, and other interested professionals
  • Plan networking events and develop a mentoring program for CIS Alumni to connect with community leaders and professionals
  • Develop and implement initiatives around financial literacy, coordinating with partner agencies to provide regular financial counseling to CIS Alumni
  • Partner with CIS Programming colleagues to help CIS Alumni identify goals and create post-secondary or post-graduation plans in support of them
  • Develop and implement programming to support CIS alumni with college admissions including scholarship and FAFSA applications
  • Actively participate in all staff activities and cross-functional projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services or another related field
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience working in education, social work or related position
  • Experience working collaboratively with administrators, staff, parents and/or students
  • Case management experience conducting assessments and home visits preferred
  • Experience with adapting, facilitating and evaluating age appropriate activities with and for individuals and groups
  • Knowledge of and experience with career assessments, financial aid, training programs, 2 and 4 year colleges and universities
  • Must have valid driver's license

SKILLS REQUIREMENT

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and experience with Google Suite, Zoom and other virtual meeting platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical manuals, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write and edit reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public, orally and in writing
  • Culturally competent and experienced working with diverse populations and perspectives
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle, feel and keyboard; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, or bend. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position is located within the Charlotte Mecklenburg area. Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality are required. Regular and satisfactory performance including meeting all process deadlines and stated deliverables is required.
