Turn Free Time Into Something to Look Forward To

A night out. A fitness class. A community event. A dance with friends. Trying something completely new.

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking Part-Time Community Activities Assistants to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities enjoy an active, social, and engaging recreational experience.

You'll be part of the team that helps make activities happen—from preparing for events and accompanying individuals on community outings to encouraging someone to join a group, try a new hobby, or become more involved in their community.

If you're energetic, dependable, and enjoy being around people, this is a flexible part-time opportunity where no two activities have to feel the same.

What Could Your Shift Look Like?

  • Help facilitate fitness classes, arts and crafts, cooking groups, dances, seasonal celebrations, volunteer opportunities, and other activities.

  • Prepare activity areas and assist with event setup and recreation program needs.
  • Help maintain safe, organized, and welcoming activity environments.
  • Communicate participant accomplishments, needs, and concerns with supervisors and recreation team members.

Recreation With a Bigger Purpose

The activity itself is only part of the experience.

Recreation can give someone an opportunity to make a friend, become more comfortable in the community, discover something they enjoy, or make their own choices about how they want to spend their free time.

As a Community Activities Assistant, you'll help make those opportunities possible while having the chance to participate in a wide variety of programs and events yourself.
