Job Description

Job Title: Community Outreach Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time 

Reports To: Marketing Director

Status: Non-Exempt 

Job Overview: Under the direct supervision of the Marketing Director, the Community Outreach Representative is responsible for helping the organization to promote public education, volunteer, recruit and coordinate media campaigns and fund-raising goals. in Marion SC and surrounding communities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develops and implements programs that address public health concerns. 
  • Writes newsletters and other communications instruments targeted to community of citizens interested public health information.  
  • Works closely with school staff to obtain necessary information and aid families.  
  • Provides support in implementation and coordination of activities with outside service agencies, school sites, etc.  
  • Acts as liaison with neighborhood associations. 
  • Develops connections between patients, staff, parents, and students.  
  • Write routine reports and correspondence 
  •  Speaks effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.  
  • Works closely with school administration to assess school needs to develop programming that is specific to those identified needs.  

Requirements

  • Time management: Must be able to task self and others who are participating in the program.
  • Self-motivation: Must be able to take the initiative to lead and to propose outreach modes. This will require actively participating in community events to become familiar with the population being addressed. 
  • Interpersonal skills: Must work with other staff members, also in close contact with the public. 
  • Teaching: Must be informative in the approach to disseminate knowledge and to be engaging and keep the public involved. 
  • One-year experience working in community development, preferred. 
  • Excellent human relation skills.  
  • Experience in working in a culturally diverse community setting.  
  • Bilingual in English and the Spanish language, preferred.  
  • Sensitive to cultural differences.  
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and insurance. 

 Education/Certification/Licensure: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related degree (Example:   Health Care Administration)
  • Five years of experience in public health programs.
