WORK ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

Waukesha County is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented leader to manage countywide real property listing and tax billing operations. This position oversees the administration of tax system processes, supervises staff, coordinates services provided to municipalities, and helps ensure property tax and assessment records are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations. The role works closely with municipal officials, assessors, state agencies, title companies, and other County departments to support efficient tax listing, billing, reporting, and land records coordination. 

The ideal candidate will bring experience in property tax administration, assessment or land records-related work, and supervision of staff and processes. Strong knowledge of real estate and property tax practices, legal descriptions, automated systems, and customer service is important for success in this role. The position also requires the ability to analyze problems, implement process improvements, manage data and reporting functions, and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners. 

Typical responsibilities include coordinating annual tax billing and related processing, overseeing tax system administration and security access, supervising preparation and maintenance of assessment rolls and legal property descriptions, supporting reporting and compliance activities, training users, and helping resolve title, tax, and property record issues.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements

  • 1.    
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2.    
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible work experience in data or information processing, preferably including advisory, consulting, or liaison services to clients; in customer service, preferably in an automated environment; or in the administration of tax billing or tax payment processing.
  • 3.    
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration; marketing; computer science; or a closely related field may substitute for two (2) years of the work experience requirement.
