Generac’s Compliance Engineering Intern is responsible for working with various teams to fulfill engineering duties and assist with projects as needed. Under supervision of engineers, the intern will work to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly and service processes. Participants develop technical skills through challenging assignments and usage of technical tools. 

Major Responsibilities

  • Review and validate product certifications and regulations
  • Develop and implement certification record system in the PLM (windchill) system
  • Assist in development of compliance training modules
  • Research and update compliance notes on critical component drawings, work with remote design center for updates
  • Collect and create a real-time end of line compliance data lake for product validation
  • Provide certification and compliance support in the Industrial, Commercial, Residential and/or Retail products Including reviewing certification plans for completeness and relevance to projects requirements. Interfacing with internal company personnel, Provide technical support for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize compliance process. 
  • Support compliance team goal initiatives
  • Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

  • Currently pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Environmental, Chemical or Civil Engineering).

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Microsoft Office experience (including Excel, Word, Power BI, etc).
  • Proficient oral and written communication and able to write clearly and succinctly to get a message across.
  • ABILITY TO WORK FULL-TIME DURING THE SUMMER – 40 HOUR WEEK; POTENTIAL FOR WORK OVER BREAKS

Preferred Job Requirements

Education

  • Pursuing BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Environmental, Chemical or Civil Engineering
  • Completion of at least Freshman year of education

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Understanding or working knowledge of Pro-E and/or AutoCAD experience, preferred.
  • Understanding of a Product Lifecycle Management (windchill) system

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
