Job Summary

Our client is seeking a licensed attorney with demonstrated experience applying federal civil rights statutes to support a federal government program involving complaint reviews, investigations, and compliance matters. The ideal candidate has experience analyzing complex legal issues, preparing well-reasoned legal findings, and applying federal statutes and regulations in an investigative, administrative, or compliance environment. Experience involving First Amendment issues is highly desirable.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review complaints, allegations, and supporting documentation to determine appropriate case disposition.
  • Conduct legal and factual analysis of investigations and compliance matters.
  • Research and interpret applicable federal laws, regulations, policies, and guidance.
  • Draft legal memoranda, investigative summaries, correspondence, reports, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate case files, documentation, and supporting records.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to obtain information and clarify case details.
  • Support quality assurance efforts to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of work.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Job Requirements

  • Experience supporting litigation, investigations, administrative law, compliance, or civil rights matters.
  • Demonstrated experience applying federal civil rights statutes, including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Age Discrimination Act.
  • Strong legal writing experience, including memoranda, investigative reports, case evaluations, dismissal letters, or legal recommendations.
  • Active bar license in good standing in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience involving First Amendment issues or constitutional law is preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting a federal government legal, investigative, compliance, or administrative review function is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Work Experience

  • Experience supporting litigation, investigations, administrative law, compliance, civil rights, or related legal matters.
  • Experience applying federal civil rights laws within a government, legal, regulatory, or compliance environment preferred.
