Job Description

eSalon is seeking an experienced Compounder to join our Operations team manufacturing hair dye and hair care products. This role requires hands-on experience operating and controlling chemical compounding equipment, along with strong attention to detail, solid math skills, and the ability to follow precise instructions consistently. This position reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and works onsite at our El Segundo facility, Monday through Friday, 5:00AM - 1:30PM.

What You'll Be Doing:

    • Accurately pre-weigh raw ingredients according to established formulas and strict weight-tolerance requirements to produce bulk hair color and developer products.
    • Operate pumps, mixers, tanks, kegs, drums, and other compounding equipment throughout the production process.
    • Perform tank filling and cleaning, as well as drum and keg changeouts for bulk hair color batches.
    • Partner with the Warehouse team to move and store raw materials, maintain accurate inventory records, and conduct periodic cycle counts.
    • Complete production and batch records accurately and document all required batch data.
    • Maintain clean and sanitary equipment and work areas, including cleaning and sanitizing tanks, equipment, and the compounding area.
    • Follow all safety procedures and consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Perform passivation procedures on stainless steel components to extend service life.
    • Perform routine preventive maintenance and safety checks, including scale calibrations and inspections of fire extinguishers and eyewash stations.
    • Clean and maintain deionized (DI) water lines according to established procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • At least one year of hands-on manufacturing experience. 
    • Basic math, data-entry, and computer skills, with the ability to learn and use Google Workspace and Slack.
    • Ability to safely operate and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
    • Ability to read and understand instructions, checklists, forms, and equipment manuals written in English.
    • Familiarity with cGMPs, sanitation practices, safety procedures, and required PPE.
    • Experience operating pallet jacks and drum-handling equipment; forklift certification is a plus.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work around chemicals, fumes, and typical manufacturing and warehouse conditions.
