Job Description

At Leidos' High Fidelity Simulation Business Area, we’re not just building systems—we’re revolutionizing the future of naval simulation, training, and analysis for the US Navy.  Imagine being part of a team where your work directly redefines naval capabilities.  You will get to work with state-of-the art technology developing the most sophisticated and “game changing” trainers the US Navy deploys, systems such as CIAT - Combined Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Trainer - YouTube.  You will be part of a high-powered team, performing vital work that has a major impact within the US Navy.  You will be constantly learning new skills throughout your co-op employment and your work will be included in trainer deliveries and used by US Navy Fleet personnel.  The hallmark of Leidos is empowered employees doing meaningful work.

Leidos is seeking energetic, motivated, self-starters for these technically sophisticated and challenging Linux computer engineering positions.  Engineering Co-ops may assemble and cable computer based systems, configure servers, perform integration testing and validation, and work on system foundation components (such as building Linux system images and developing power management scripts).  All work is performed and executed in a Linux OS environment.  All work is directly applicable to actual military training systems.  Co-op students will gain invaluable, real-world experience on state-of-the-art computer-based systems.  This co-op rotation will start in May 2026 and conclude in December 2026.  Subsequent co-op rotations are available for those who require multiple co-op experiences.

Basic Qualifications:

• You MUST be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical degree, have at least a 3.2 GPA, and be able to demonstrate solid Linux and computer engineering skills.

• You MUST be available to work at least 7 months full time as a co-op.

• You MUST have U.S. Citizenship and be eligible to obtain a U.S. Government granted security clearance. Employment is contingent on receiving an interim Secret security clearance.

• You WILL be working in a professional environment and contributing to systems that will be used throughout the U.S. Navy. Therefore, candidates must be dedicated to producing quality work results and must be extremely attentive to detail.

If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling. At Leidos, we outthink, outbuild, and outpace the status quo — because the mission demands it. We're not hiring followers. We're recruiting the ones who disrupt, provoke, and refuse to fail. Step 10 is ancient history. We're already at step 30 — and moving faster than anyone else dares.
