Job Description
Harder Mechanical is one of the nation’s largest mechanical contractors with an outstanding reputation for working safely, meeting tough schedules, and delivering quality projects. Based in Portland Oregon, we work primarily in the 11-western states with regional offices in Reno, NV; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, CA; and Salt Lake City, UT. As a Computer Science Intern, you will be performing some of the actual duties of a full-time Software Engineer & Information Technology Specialist and gain hands-on experience in an office environment. You will assist Harder’s in-house software development and IT team with supporting and solving issues related to our technology and software for construction project teams. Our internship program is designed to support your career and further your path into entry level IT positions within any organization. Computer Science Interns at Harder perform the following daily tasks:Software Engineering
- Data Entry: Support with initial deployment of new application/modules, support initial setup of construction projects, etc.
- User Support: App access, Role changes, basic Application User Interface support, etc.
- Development: Basic Low-code (i.e. QuickBase) development and/or modification on existing applications.
- Computer Builds: Follow company-prescribed build sheets for enterprise deployments of Windows on new/used computers.
- IT Group Support - Projects may include packing and shipping IT equipment, assisting with the management of IT inventory, assisting with deploying copiers, printers and assist with setup of scan to email/folder on network, and other projects as assigned by senior members of the IT team.
- Must be able to meet deadlines – strong organizational and time management skills are essential
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible with work locations, must be able to travel /relocate for the work term
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated interest in a career in software development and/or IT
- Preferred degree in computer science or computer engineering
