General Program Overview:
This program supports a U.S. Naval Aviation organization by delivering advanced data analytics, modeling, and decision-support capabilities that improve aircraft readiness, maintenance planning, and sustainment outcomes. The team works with complex, multi-source data to identify trends, forecast workload and cost drivers, and develop actionable insights that help leaders make better-informed operational and resource decisions.
Work on this program spans data engineering, predictive analytics, logistics and sustainment analysis, and the development of dashboards and analytical tools used to improve mission readiness, reduce delays, and optimize long-term lifecycle costs across aviation platforms.
Role Overview
The Computer Scientist (Journeyman) supports the research, design, and development of software-based analytical solutions. This role focuses on applying computer and information science principles to solve complex data, modeling, or system challenges

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research into computer and information science applications
- Design and develop software solutions supporting analytics, modeling, or decision support
- Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to implement technical solutions
- Support development of analytical tools, models, and system capabilities
- Contribute to system design, documentation, and continuous improvement
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science or a related field
- 3–15 yearsof professional experience in software development, systems engineering, or applied computer science
Additional Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 investigation
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments preferred
