Procon seeks an experienced Construction Administrator for a long-term opportunity located in Tuscaloosa, AL. The Construction Administrator will support the project team in the day-to-day management and administration of construction activities, including project documentation, quality assurance, RFIs, submittals, construction modifications, scheduling support, and coordination among contractors and key project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction practices, excellent organizational and communication skills, and experience supporting complex construction projects from execution through closeout.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent relevant education and professional experience. Minimum of 3 years of construction experience may be considered in lieu of higher education.
  • Working knowledge of construction practices, procedures, and project operations.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, safety, scheduling, cost control, change management, and information management.
  • Familiarity with general contractor and subcontractor operations and construction project delivery processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with software applications used to track, update, manage, and produce construction project documentation and reports.
  • Experience providing administrative or construction support for medical centers, hospitals, or other healthcare facilities preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) projects preferred.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Monitor construction activities for quality assurance and identify deficiencies or noncompliant work against construction documents.
  • Review project schedules and assist in evaluating completed and acceptable work in place.
  • Provide technical and administrative construction management support for EHRM operations, renovations, and new construction projects.
  • Receive, review, organize, distribute, and maintain project correspondence, technical documentation, records, samples, and other construction-related materials.
  • Establish and maintain project control logs, working files, forms, and required documentation.
  • Track construction modifications, RFIs, contractor clarification requests, and material submittals.
  • Track project purchases and shipping receipts and prepare required web-based reports.
  • Coordinate project meetings and conferences, including schedules, agendas, locations, reservations, and attendance.
  • Manage and transfer project submittals and RFIs between RMS, VA, and Activation systems.
  • Maintain spreadsheets and tracking tools to monitor action items and responsibilities among CFM, VAMC, USACE, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular onsite presence in an active construction environment. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Walking and standing for extended periods while performing site observations and inspections.
  • Navigating active construction areas, including stairs, uneven surfaces, temporary walkways, and varying elevations.
  • Occasionally bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as necessary to observe construction activities.
  • Accessing mechanical, electrical, utility, process, and other construction areas as required.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with all applicable site safety requirements.
  • Working in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to typical construction-site conditions, including noise, dust, weather, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
