Job Description
Join our dynamic team at our project office in Sylmar, CA, where you'll be part of an exciting and transformative construction project. We are seeking a skilled professional to support the change management construction process on the LACMTA Westside Purple Line Extension Project Section. This role reports to the Senior Project Engineer and focuses on providing cost estimate proposals for all costs, including subcontractor or supplier costs associated with Owner related changes.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that Cost and Schedule Proposals (CSP) are processed in accordance with LACMTA Changes Guidelines and applicable contract documents.
- Assist project staff in the review of scope, cost analysis, negotiations, and resolution of change order issues.
- Attend negotiation meetings with the project staff and Metro, assisting with proposal analysis presentation.
- Participate in job meetings as required, and visit job sites and field offices to obtain first-hand knowledge of the change order scope.
- Proactively resolve problem issues and expedite the change order process.
- Process time and material pay estimates.
- Assist the Senior Project Engineer with the review of internal subcontractor changes and perform related duties and projects as assigned.
- Have knowledge of construction labor costs, prevailing wage rates & fringe benefits. Understanding of construction equipment costs and applicable Blue Book Rates is a must. Package material cost with supporting cost data.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent required.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in contract management, contract administration, and/or the preparation/review of change orders and claims for heavy construction or transit industry construction projects.
- Must understand the fundamentals of contracting and have familiarity with large-scale mass transit and/or heavy civil projects.
- Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities is vital.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills such as tact, diplomacy, and influence are essential.
- Must be a business-oriented person.
