Construction Engineering
- Work site: Ellsworth Afb, SD
- Assignment duration: 11 months
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Construction Engineering
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Project Engineer on assigned contracts administered by the Resident Office
- Perform routine project tasks independently and elevate complex issues to a supervisor
- Participate in all phases of the contract modification process
- Consult with customer representatives, cost sharing partners, and project managers to provide progress updates and resolve issues or potential delays
- Arrange and conduct pre-work meetings
- Attend and participate in coordination meetings, preparatory phase meetings, and safety meetings
- Study plans and specifications to understand construction requirements and design criteria
- Recommend changes to plans or specifications for deficiencies, differing site conditions, or user requests and provide lessons learned to designers
- Participate in contract modification activities including preparing scopes of work for RFPs, assisting with government estimates, and reviewing contractor proposals
- Develop Quality Assurance Plans and ensure implementation in accordance with regulations
- Support onsite Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) for quality, safety, and coordination activities
- Conduct periodic inspections of contractor work for compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements
- Monitor construction progress and advise the Resident Engineer of potential delays
- Update project status in RMS, including milestone events and potential issues
- Review contractor plans and technical submittals including schedules, environmental, safety, and quality control programs, certifications, and shop drawings
- Prepare correspondence related to contractor performance, RFIs, and technical issues
- Assist in reviewing contractor requests related to disputes and claims and provide recommendations
- Prepare partial and final payment estimates including quantity measurements, material verification, and percentage completion of lump sum items
- Monitor all construction phases and advise on potential schedule slippage
