Estimating Specialist
Alyeska Builders is looking to add an Estimating Specialist to our growing team.
We are a locally owned general contractor based in North Pole, Alaska, specializing in residential new construction, remodeling, and light commercial projects. We're a close-knit team that values quality craftsmanship, strong relationships, and a positive workplace culture.

Position Summary
The Estimating Specialist prepares accurate project estimates and works closely with clients, vendors, trade partners, and our internal team to ensure projects are properly scoped, documented, and ready for successful execution.
This role is vital to our company's success-every project begins with a solid estimate.
What You'll Do
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Perform quantity takeoffs and material calculations
- Prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Prepare proposals and assist with bid submissions
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, vendors, and trade partners
- Assist with change orders and estimate revisions
- Maintain estimating records and pricing databases
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality
What We're Looking For
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to read construction plans and understand residential and/or commercial construction methods
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Minimum 2 years of customer service experience
- Ability to travel locally to project sites as needed (primarily Fairbanks/North Pole)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test

- Primarily office-based with occasional local site visits

Employment Requirements
As part of our commitment to safety and professional development, employees are expected to:
- Hold (or complete before hire) an OSHA 10 Construction Safety Certification (company-paid course available)
- Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record if driving for company business
- Report any driving violations within 48 hours
- Complete one company-approved continued education course every six months (provided by Alyeska Builders)

Schedule Details
Our crew works year-round, and the ability to work overtime is required when necessary.
