Job Description
We are SLR Consulting (Americas), a 1500+ team of advisory, environmental, engineering, and regulatory professionals across Canada, the United States, and LATAM. As our new Class II/III Construction Inspector, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.
Role
In this position you will be responsible for overseeing a roadway reconstruction project in York, Maine. Your work will help ensure that oversight is consistent with MDOT procedures and process.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Inspector services for MDOT type Construction Inspection Projects
- Conduct measurements and documentation of construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Perform basic material testing activities and supplying results for internal and external purposes. Testing may include Hot Mix Asphalt, Portland Cement Concrete and soils/aggregates
- Review Contract Documents
- Coordinate with Clients and Contractors
- Prepare records for oversight of construction Projects including daily inspection reports, testing protocols and the MDOT system for record keeping
- Prepare for and assist in running meetings
- Develop and maintain project records throughout construction
- Prepare pay requisitions and change orders
- Monitor, manage and execute necessary material testing
- Prepare project correspondence
- Coordinate with utility companies and various agencies of the industry as necessary

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:
- Prior state inspection experience preferred
- Ability to handle typical Chief/Resident inspector duties
- Strong inspection documentation skills
- Familiarity with Maine DOT construction specifications and documentation preferred
- NETTCP certification with paving experience is required with additional certifications desirable (ACI, Precast Concrete, etc.)
- Work may involve working nights, weekends and holidays
- Work beyond eight hours per day and beyond 40 hours per week may be required.
