Job Description

Based in Michigan, Zeeland Lumber & Supply operates truss and wall panel component manufacturing plants along with full-service building material yards that distribute lumber and an expansive range of specialty products, such as windows, doors, roofing, cabinets, decking, and interior and exterior trim.

A Brief OverviewThe job requires the ability to effectively work with the GC and sub-contractor(s) to ensure safe and productive jobsites. The ability to schedule materials and equipment with office and supervisor. Ability to work with a timeline to get a job or task completed. Flexibility in work schedule to adjust to the needs of the job assignment. Collaboration with the team and help on other jobs as needed.Ability to perform and complete building tasks on a jobsite as needed. I.E build a wall, move a wall and or punch out a building.

Job Purpose/Mandate

  • Provide onsite supervision to ensure adequate workmanship
  • Provide and maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • To ensure work is performed in a safe and proper manner
  • To ensure the job is on schedule and within budget
  • To ensure good communication between field and office
  • Safety Compliance
  • Ensure proper licensing for equipment

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage subcontractor
  • Manage onsite safety
  • Manage cleanliness of workspace
  • Perform daily logs
  • Manage materials both incoming and returns
  • Manage changes to scope and correct ticketing procedures on all changes
  • Maintain all requirements by GC on jobsite. (contractual obligation)
  • Ensure tickets or COR’s are properly documented and communicated to office
  • Communicate with GC about progress and issues as needed
  • Fill out and maintain weekly toolbox talks with subs
  • Flexibility in moving to different sites as required

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to adjust to changing weather conditions
  • Must be aware of your surroundings, other trades may affect your jobsite
  • Ensure materials are stored properly
  • Proper PPE must be worn at all times
  • Ensure proper PPE for all framing subcontractors

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have 3 plus years' experience in carpentry
  • Must have 3 plus years in a supervisory role
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must have ability to motivate team
  • Spanish speaking a plus but not mandatory
  • Good organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able work with little to no supervision
  • Must be able to read and follow blueprints
  • Strong interpersonal skills
