Job Details / Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programsEnsure full compliance with OSHA, state, and local regulations, with particular focus on excavation, trenching, heavy equipment, and utility workConduct regular jobsite audits, hazard assessments, and safety inspections across active projectsLead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action processesDeliver safety training and toolbox talks for field crews, supervisors, and new hiresPartner with project teams and leadership to embed safety into daily operations and planningMaintain required safety documentation, reporting, and metricsServe as the primary safety resource and culture champion for the organization
Qualifications:
7–10+ years of progressive safety experience in construction, preferably heavy civil, excavation, earthwork, or similar field environmentsDeep knowledge of OSHA standards, especially excavation/trenching, heavy equipment, and utility safetyProven ability to lead safety programs, train field teams, and drive cultural changeStrong communication and relationship-building skills with crews, supervisors, and leadershipPreferred certifications: OSHA 30 or OSHA 500, CSP, CHST, or equivalentWillingness to spend meaningful time in the field across the regionBachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred
