This is a heavy civil infrastructure assignment with anticipated scope that may include civil construction, utilities, roadway improvements, roadwork, and pavement activities. The Construction Scheduler will develop, maintain, update, and analyze detailed, logic-driven schedules to support project planning, construction execution, progress measurement, schedule forecasting, and performance reporting.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience supporting large-scale heavy civil, highway, rail, transit, or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects, along with advanced expertise in Primavera P6. Experience supporting CMGC (Construction Manager/General Contractor) or similar alternative project delivery methods is strongly preferred.

This position is hybrid in the Los Angeles area, with onsite attendance required based on project and client needs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated, logic-driven Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules using Primavera P6 for major heavy civil and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Develop project schedules from inception by coordinating with project management, engineering, construction, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedule logic, activity sequencing, relationships, milestones, constraints, calendars, and work breakdown structures.
  • Perform cost loading and resource loading of schedules as required.
  • Develop time-phased forecasts, manpower projections, and cash flow curves, as applicable.
  • Establish and maintain project schedule baselines and measure progress against approved baseline schedules.
  • Perform regular schedule updates and identify variances, schedule impacts, emerging risks, and changes to key project milestones.
  • Monitor and analyze the critical path and near-critical activities, including constraints, interfaces, and potential schedule risks.
  • Perform Time Impact Analyses (TIA) and support the evaluation of delays, schedule changes, contractor impacts, and recovery plans.
  • Review and analyze contractor-submitted baseline schedules, schedule updates, recovery schedules, and other schedule-related deliverables.
  • Provide detailed comments and recommendations regarding schedule logic, sequencing, progress, delays, constraints, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with contractors and project teams to resolve schedule discrepancies and improve schedule accuracy.
  • Track schedule interfaces across multiple disciplines, including civil construction, utilities, roadway improvements, paving, and related infrastructure work.
  • Prepare schedule narratives, progress reports, dashboards, look-ahead schedules, milestone reports, and executive-level briefings.
  • Present schedule status, risks, critical-path activities, and recovery strategies to project leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Support schedule-related documentation associated with change management, claims avoidance, delay analysis, and project reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and complete schedule records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of project scheduling experience supporting heavy civil, highway, transportation, or major infrastructure construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining schedules for large-scale, complex capital construction programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (Version 12.0 or higher).
  • Demonstrated experience developing cost-loaded and resource-loaded schedules.
  • Experience developing schedules from project inception and maintaining them throughout design and construction.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method scheduling, schedule logic, progress measurement, baseline management, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience performing Time Impact Analyses (TIA) and evaluating schedule delays and impacts.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil and highway construction means, methods, sequencing, and project delivery.
  • Ability to review, evaluate, and provide recommendations regarding contractor-submitted schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical schedule information to project teams, contractors, clients, and executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated track record of accuracy, reliability, attention to detail, and completeness in project controls and scheduling responsibilities.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting Los Angeles Metro or other major public transportation agencies.
  • BRT, rail, or transit construction scheduling experience.
  • Experience with CMGC (Construction Manager/General Contractor) delivery or similar alternative project delivery methods.
  • Experience supporting major roadway, highway, utility, pavement, or civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with cost- and resource-loaded schedules, earned value concepts, and progress measurement methodologies.
